Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ Announces Completion of Newbuilt LNG Carrier "LNG ROSENROT" for German Energy Company Uniper

Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Yoshihisa Suzuki, President & COO; hereinafter ¡°Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¡±) announced that LNG ROSENROT (hereinafter the "Ship"), a newbuilt LNG carrier with a cargo tank capacity of 180,000? , ordered by a joint venture between Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Ikeda Junichiro, President & CEO; hereinafter "MOL"), was completed at the Okpo shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) in South Korea on January 25, and entered into an LNG transportation service contract with Uniper Global Commodities SE (Headquarters: D¨¹sseldorf, Germany; hereinafter "UGC"), which is 100% owned by one of the largest European gas and electricity companies, Uniper SE (Headquarters: D¨¹sseldorf, Germany).

The Ship is a sister vessel of LNG Schneeweisschen that was completed on 31st July 2018 and it is the second LNG carrier to be serving under an LNG transportation service contract with UGC. Like the first carrier, the Ship is equipped with the slow-speed two-stroke engine (X-DF) made by Winterthur Gas & Diesel, which can run on both natural gas and heavy fuel oil, improving main engines efficiency and fuel efficiency and making LNG transport more eco-friendly.

The Ship will be managed by MOL and will transport LNG from shale gas liquefaction plants in the North America to Europe and other parts of the world. Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ will continue actively participating in projects for the transport of LNG, which is a clean energy, aiming for a stable supply of energy in the long term, while at the same time developing ships fueled by ammonia*1 for the transition to a decarbonized society.
