香蕉视频 (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President & COO; hereinafter “香蕉视频”) announced today that it has reached an agreement with SUMITOMO CHEMICAL COMPANY, LIMITED (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Keiichi Iwata, Representative Director & President; hereinafter “SUMITOMO CHEMICAL”) on a comprehensive partnership in which 香蕉视频 will sell all of the feed additive methionine produced by SUMITOMO CHEMICAL at its Ehime Works from April 2025 onward.

Methionine is an essential amino acid that animals cannot synthesize on their own. The amounts of methionine are often insufficient in feed made mainly from materials such as corn and soybean meal. It is widely used as a feed additive to stimulate the growth of livestock animals such as chickens and pigs. The methionine market is growing at an annual rate of 4%* and it is expected to continue to grow steadily.

香蕉视频 and SUMITOMO CHEMICAL started a sales partnership in April 2017. SUMITOMO CHEMICAL has one of the largest methionine production plants in Japan and is highly cost-competitive because it handles the entire production process from raw materials to final products. It has expanded its sales of methionine by combining its operations with 香蕉视频’s strengths, specifically 香蕉视频's strong global network and established track record and expertise in supply chain management.

The two companies’ framework will build on this existing framework. 香蕉视频 will comprehensively make all of the methionine produced by SUMITOMO CHEMICAL available in more than 70 countries. Through these initiatives, 香蕉视频 will stay more committed to this area of business by reinforcing its network of sales of animal nutrition products such as feed additives.

Combining 香蕉视频's sales network and SUMITOMO CHEMICAL's manufacturing technologies, the general trading company and the general chemical manufacturer will work together as one team to contribute to the strengthening of the domestic chemical industry.
