Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ Announces Strategic Partnership and Acquisition of Trademark and Exclusive Marketing Rights for BARLEYMAX? Super Barley? in Japan and Taiwan

Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President & COO; hereinafter ¡°Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¡±) announced today that it has acquired trademark and exclusive marketing rights for BARLEYMAX? Super Barley? in Japan and Taiwan. BARLEYMAX? Super Barley? is the product of The Healthy Grain (headquartered in Melbourne, Australia; Karlu Chu, CEO; hereinafter). Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ and The Healthy Grain have entered into a strategic partnership to increase sales of BARLEYMAX? and increase its market share in the Japanese and Taiwanese markets.
BARLEYMAX? is a superfood with a high amount of dietary fiber. It contains nearly 40 times the dietary fiber of white rice, eight times the dietary fiber of brown rice and twice the dietary fiber of standard barley. The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Australian spent more than 10 years developing it, and it is currently produced only in Australia. BARLEYMAX? has a crunchy texture and a hint of sweetness. It can be cooked with rice or boiled and mixed in other dishes.
The recommended daily intake of dietary fiber is 25 g per day, but the average person's intake remains low at 18.1 g.*1 Against the background of low dietary fiber intake and a growing awareness of healthy living, the domestic dietary fiber market is expanding. It is expected to grow to 1,064 million dollars (approximately 150 billion yen) *2 in 2033, 1.9 times its size in 2024.
The Healthy Grain will license the trademark and exclusive marketing rights for BARLEYMAX? in Japan and Taiwan to Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ in May 2025. Until April 2025, Teijin Limited (headquartered in Kita-ku, Osaka; Akimoto Uchikawa, President and CEO; hereinafter ¡°Teijin¡±) will reserve the exclusive rights to import BARLEYMAX? into Japan and Taiwan. Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ will be granted these rights in May 2025.
